A Message from Mrs. Kalpin

Thank you to all the Clarke Families who contributed to the Toys for Local Children fundraiser.  We were able to deliver a multitude of toys as well as $400 that can be used to purchase additional toys.  Your generosity is incredible and will surely help brighten the holidays for many families.

Best,
Cathy Kalpin
Clarke School Adjustment Counselor

   Reminder for Dismissal
                                          Kindly read the procedures below:

* Dismissal Time begins at 2:10:
Dismissal is NOT a live procedure. This means that families must either park before
picking up your child or walk to school to pick him/her up. Please be considerate of the
residents who live near the school. I have had several phone calls from upset neighbors
of Clarke whose driveways were blocked by parked cars belonging to Clarke families.  Also,
cars must NOT park in the drop-off circle in the front of the school.  This area is used
for buses and vans for certain after school programs.  They are there to pick up students.
Cars parking in that area have been blocking these vehicles and disrupting the procedure
for those students’ rides to their after school programs.

All students will be dismissed via designated doors to the hot top.
Please meet your child/children at these designated areas:

Kindergarten - Dismissed out Door 4.This is the door located outside of Mrs. Wheeler’s
classroom. It has a handicap ramp.

1st Grade - Dismissed out of Door 7 - Directly from the All Purpose Room

2nd Grade - Dismissed out of Door 5   - This is the door located in the breeze way by the
All Purpose Room. It also has a handicap ramp.

3rd Grade - Dismissed out of Door 5

4th Grade - Dismissed out of Door 7 - Directly from the All Purpose Room

  * Order of Dismissal: Students will be dismissed in the following order beginning at 2:10.

              1.  1st Grade and 2nd Grade
              2.  Kindergarten
              3.  3rd Grade and 4th Grade

Teachers will be present at dismissal time in order to ensure students are dismissed safely.
If someone other than the person you have designated as the pick up person is going to be dismissing your child, you must notify the main office prior to dismissal time at (781) 596-8812.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Hunt

Kindergarten Information Evening
Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at 6:30 PM
Swampscott Middle School in the Little Theater

The evening will be an opportunity to hear about a typical day in your child’s kindergarten routine, including information regarding the curriculum and schedule. In addition, there will be a panel of specialists from the district in the areas of health, social-emotional development, student services and kindergarten readiness to answer any questions.

The following are some updates to the registration process this year:
·         Kindergarten registration forms will be available online at the following link:

·         Registration packets must be turned into the school district in person at the Middle School in the Superintendent’s Conference Room during one of the following time slots:
·         Monday, March 18 between                    7:30  AM and 11:30 AM
·         Tuesday, March 19 between                     7:30  AM and 11:30 AM
·         Thursday, March 28 between                   1:00 PM and 4:00 PM
·         Kindergarten school assignment letters will be mailed on or before May 15, 2019. Please note that siblings are placed at the same school unless there is an individual need for specialized district programming.
·         Kindergarten visitation day will be Friday, June 7, 2019. Students with last names beginning with A-M will be at 9:00AM and students with last names N-Z will be at 10:30 AM.
·         School assignments will not be assigned until all registration documentation is submitted.
·         Kindergarten screening will occur at your child’s assigned school during the first three days of school (August 27, 28, 29).  Special Education laws require that all children be screened upon entrance into kindergarten.  The screening is a non-intensive scan of your child's learning skills and abilities and lasts approximately 30 minutes. Screening appointment dates and times will be sent out by letter. The purpose of the screening is to identify any learning issues that may exist which may require further evaluation and/or special education services. Parents will be notified of their child’s kindergarten teacher at the end of the school day after screening is complete.
·         1st day of school for Kindergarten students will be on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019.
